About Me
Varun Sampath Kumar, is a first-year PhD student at the Applied AI and Data Science Unit, The Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Institute, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) under the supervision of Dr. Vinay Chakravarthi Gogineni. His research centers on trustworthy AI and Responsible AI, with a focus on Machine Unlearning. He is particularly interested in developing robust machine unlearning algorithms for both vision (discriminative and generative) models and large language models (LLMs). Before joining SDU, Varun received Integrated M.Sc. (B.Sc. + M.Sc.) in Data Science from PSG College of Technology (an autonomous institution under Anna University) in June 2025. He has completed several internships at KLA, primarily working on self-supervised learning for wafer defect classification and contributed to data engineering pipelines involving Apache Iceberg, DuckDB, and PySpark.
I am always open to new ideas, collaborations or discussions (whatever it may be). Feel free to reach out! You can find my contact info, CV, and projects here, or visit my GitHub.
